Eafrica Johnson, Artist
Born in Memphis, TN, I have been dabbling in art since I was a child. I attended Regent University and received a Master of Education in 2012. In 2016, while working as a full time Artist, I received a teaching certificate from Old Dominion University. I currently teach Art and live in Virginia with my husband, four children and a parrot.
The light, color, and contrast of everyday objects are what inspire me to paint. I enjoy common objects because the simple things in life bring so much joy. I will either set up a still life, use reference photos or both. I believe my work represents a very brief period in time. In that moment, I interpret what I see and pursue the essence of my subjects. I like to work small but I will challenge myself every now and then to “go big”.
